The science — topical hyaluronic acid
In a placebo-controlled periocular study (76 women, twice daily, 60 days), 0.1% topical HA gave statistically significant gains in skin hydration and elasticity, and significantly reduced wrinkle depth for the low-molecular-weight forms. A separate 8-week randomised controlled trial of a low-molecular-weight (2 kDa) HA found significantly shallower wrinkles at the nasolabial fold and crow’s feet, with higher dermal collagen density from week four.
