The active: a volumising hexapeptide
Clinically dosed — an exact match to the studied levelAcetyl hexapeptide-38 stimulates PGC-1α expression, which raises the rate of adipogenesis and lipid accumulation in the adipose tissue that sits beneath the skin and supports it. As that tissue thins with age, the face loses volume. This peptide is designed to replenish it.
The Osmotics formulation carries it at exactly the use level the supplier’s efficacy work was carried out at. That is the point: an active only does what the study says it does if it is present at the concentration the study used.
Study conditions
| Subjects | 22 female volunteers, aged 50–60 |
|---|---|
| Product | Cream containing the active at its studied use level |
| Regimen | Applied to the cheeks twice daily |
| Duration | 14 days |
| Method | 3D fringe projection — direct acquisition of the area’s morphology in 3D, volume measured in mm³ |
| Result | Cheek volume increased by 12% |
Supporting evidence
In a separate supplier study, a cream containing the same active applied to one breast twice daily for 56 days (22 women, aged 25–40, placebo on the opposite side, FOITS measurement) increased volume 30-fold versus the placebo. In vitro, it raised PGC-1α expression by more than 61% and increased lipid accumulation in human preadipocytes.
Also in the formula
A cassava-derived glucan biopolymer that forms a viscoelastic film on the skin surface within five minutes, producing an immediate tensor and smoothing effect. The supplier reports that 90% of a trained panel felt an immediate tensor effect, and the ingredient has been tested on more than 800 volunteers. We are not making a dose-matched claim for it here, because the supplier’s recommended use level has not yet been confirmed to us in writing.
Sodium hyaluronate and glycerin for immediate surface hydration, and a silicone-based occlusive system that holds the formula against the skin overnight. Part of the immediate “plumped, rested” effect on waking is occlusive and optical rather than peptide-driven — we would rather say so.
